Questions New Traders Ask

Straight answers, no sales pitch.

I have never traded before. Where do I start?

If you want to trade yourself, start with a Demo Account and practise on MT5 with virtual funds and real market pricing. If you would rather follow or invest alongside experienced traders, look at Copy Trading or PAMM.

What is the Monaxa Demo Account?

A Standard Demo Account on MT5. It is pre-funded with virtual money but uses real market pricing, so the practice feels like the real thing.

Do I need to deposit to use Demo?

No. The Demo Account runs on virtual funds, so you can practise well before you make a live deposit.

When should I move from Demo to a Cent Account?

When MT5 feels familiar, you can place and manage trades comfortably, you use stop losses, and leverage, margin and risk make sense to you.

How much money should I start with?

There is no single right number. Start with an amount you are genuinely comfortable risking, and never money you need for everyday expenses.

What is the difference between Copy Trading and PAMM?

Copy Trading lets you pick traders and copy their trades automatically. PAMM lets you allocate funds to a strategy managed by another trader.

Should beginners use high leverage?

Higher leverage means significantly higher risk. Understand how leverage, margin and losses work before you increase your exposure.

When should I try Boosted or Prop Trading?

These suit traders who already have experience and know how to handle drawdowns and manage trading risk.

What am I actually trading?

You are trading Contracts for Difference (CFDs), which let you trade price movements in markets such as currencies, gold and stocks without owning the underlying assets.

What is MT5 versus a Standard or Cent account?

MT5, short for MetaTrader 5, is the trading software you use to view charts, open trades and manage your positions. Standard and Cent are account types that determine your trading conditions, including trade sizes, available markets and costs. You log into the platform using your trading account.

What does "Cent" actually mean?

A Cent Account displays your balance in cents. For example, a $15 deposit appears as 1,500 USC, US cents. It also uses smaller forex contracts: one Cent lot represents 1,000 units, compared with 100,000 units for one Standard lot. This lets you practise with smaller amounts of real money. Your risk still depends on how much you trade.

What will it cost to begin?

You can practise on a Demo Account with virtual funds and no deposit. Live trading starts from a $15 minimum deposit, depending on your chosen account. Your deposit is your trading money, not a joining fee, so only use money you can afford to lose.

Trading costs can include the spread, the difference between buying and selling prices, plus applicable commissions and overnight holding charges. Copy Trading and PAMM can also involve provider fees or profit sharing, with minimum allocations depending on the strategy. Check the account and strategy terms before funding.
